Dodgers slugger Manny Ramirez is a drug cheat

Alex Rodriguez hasn't been away from the Yankees, hasn't been in the penalty box, because of a drug suspension. It just seems that way, as if Rodriguez has been off doing a little time for a positive drug test in 2003 instead of rehabbing a surgical hip, putting some time between when he got caught for using baseball drugs and the official start of his season.

If Rodriguez does play on Friday in Baltimore, he just misses the first 27 games of the season because of hip surgery. Manny Ramirez, the latest dope in baseball, gets 50 now. Ramirez gets 50 when his team looks like the best team in baseball, gets 50 when his team is unbeaten at home this season. Gets the biggest suspension a star as big as he is has ever gotten because of a positive drug test. In any sport.

Ramirez quit on the Boston Red Sox one way last season and was hailed as some sort of conquering hero when he arrived at Dodger Stadium. They didn't care in LA because he was theirs now and he won them the NL West and nearly hit them all the way into the World Series.

Now he quits on the Dodgers in a different way, for testing positive for performance-enhancing substances.
